My name is Marhawe Asmerom, but feel free to call me Howie!

Born and raised in the Northern Virginia/Washington D.C. area, I’ve always been captivated by the power of technology and mathematics to create value and deliver meaningful impact for users. This early fascination, paired with my education in Data Analytics and Statistics at Virginia Tech, has shaped the way I approach challenges—focusing on the small details and creatively leveraging available resources to solve complex problems. My ability to bring people together, plan effectively, and navigate dynamic environments has guided me in building a strong foundation in program management.

A Journey of Growth

Over the past four years, I’ve cultivated my skills through multiple internships, on-campus roles, and a full-time career. These experiences reinforced the importance of cross-functional collaboration and data-driven decision-making in achieving impactful results.

Advancement Creative Studio: During my time here, I contributed to building VTx, an advanced website designed to help Virginia Tech students stay informed and engaged with events, news, and their community.

College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Research Assistant: I worked on supporting veterans aspiring to start agricultural ventures by analyzing qualitative data from past grant recipients. This effort provided actionable insights for new farmers, setting them on a path toward sustainable success.

Microsoft Internships: My sophomore and junior summers were spent as an Explore Intern and Product Management Intern, focusing on cloud security. I helped create user-friendly and secure environments, which paved the way for my full-time role.

Technical Program Manager at Microsoft: For two years in Redmond, I supported Trusted Launch, an Azure security initiative. This position allowed me to lead customer-centric engagements, implement scalable solutions, and make a tangible difference in cloud security.

What Drives Me

At my core, I’m passionate about fostering community, learning through technology, and working collaboratively toward shared goals. Whether it’s mentoring, building platforms, or connecting with others, I believe in making a positive, lasting impact.

In my free time, you can find me cheering for my favorite D.C. sports teams, immersing myself in music, and spending quality time with friends. I’m excited to use this platform as a space to share insights, offer services, and grow with the community.
